We all try to set intentions for the new year. Some things we have realized are not working. After an entire year of working with men and women who are deeply struggling with various skin challenges, I have been listening to their routines/ actions they are taking or lack thereof. I have compiled a list of Skincare Rituals of what actually WORKS to ensure your skin is youthful and radiant all year long! Remember, factors of stress, hormones, food intake, and total wellness impact your skin day to day. But overall, these 5 simple changes will ensure your skin is more luminous than it has ever been before.
Frequency: Face: Once in the evening and Body: Once daily minimum
Now this Skincare Ritual isn’t what you’re thinking. Hygiene is imperative to having clear and radiant skin. Our recommendation is to avoid touching your face as much as possible. All that non-visible dirt can cause a plethora of imbalances in the beauty of your skin.
So cleansing…some of the biggest skin challenges are caused by harsh cleansers even the ORGANIC, the NATURAL, AND THE CHEMICAL ones. We believe they are a waste of money. I have seen cleansers up to $320. Search it up on our dear friend Google. Even some cosmetic colleagues in the industry I know are charging above $50 for a cleanser! Absurd. Besides, most of the impurities are beyond the surface of this skin. Will touch on this below.
Facts: It takes about 30 minutes for a product to be absorbed into the skin excluding Vitamin C and acids (read facts here). No matter how many great ingredients are in a cleanser, they are washed away in the sink. When I cleanse my skin I take a maximum of 2 minutes.
I am so passionate to express this for the following reason. Last year, I did a survey on 170 men and women of all ages asking “what products in skincare do you spend the most amount of money on?” Everyone casted their votes and “Cleansers” was the “MOST PICKED” of 12 categories. That’s when I realized I should take this matter seriously.
You need a simple surfactant (means cleanses impurities) once a day at night, and is best before bed. Not in the morning which is standard common belief. Throughout your day, you stack on common pollutants from the outside world, free radicals, sweat, dirt, oil, etc. Wash all of the BS away every night. Including your body as well. Most back-acne is caused by poor care and exfoliation.
Here are our top recommendations when choosing cleansers for youthful and radiant skin:
Look for non-ionic surfactants in organic skin care.
Here are my top “plant derived” surfactants to look for: Coco glucoside, Decyl glucoside, Lauryl glucoside, Sucrose cocoate, Caprylyl/Capryl glucoside (<<my favorite coconut derived).
Some good plain natural soaps are: African Black Soap (for people with oily skin) super simple and easy,
Noble Formula 2% Pyrithione Zinc , Turmeric Soap , some examples (not affiliated). This is until we release our amazing Champïone cleanser.
Frequency: 3-4x per week
This is imperative to do to maintain your youthful and radiant skin. Us humans we shed our entire outer layer of skin every 2-4 weeks at the rate of 0.001 – 0.003 ounces of skin flakes every hour!! So honey, all that dust of yesterday is imperative to remove to help your natural shedding cycle and expedite cell turnover(Read more about it HERE) This is uber important for people who are recovering from acne, have dry skin, or skin imbalances. Poor exfoliation is the leading cause of blackheads, whiteheads, acne, and undergrowth.
Assist your incredible skin organ with this process by using ORGANIC botanical exfoliation particles. Steer clear from chemical exfoliants, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion.

4. Proper Skin Protection
Frequency: Use daily and re-apply when needed
As you go about your beautiful day, the greatest gift you can give yourself is to protect your skin from outside extremities. We live in the modern world, full of pollution, UV radiation, environmental stressors, free radicals, etc. etc.
Sun damage can make pores appear larger, creates blotchiness, rosacea, and most importantly premature aging and even skin cancer.
Some of the biggest complaints I hear from people age 40 plus is “I wish I didn’t think I was invincible to the sun and protected my skin in my 20’s. Now I have sun spots, age spots, darkening, hyperpigmentation…” This is a common statement from various ethnicities and genders. So start early. We believe 30 minutes in the sun is healthy for the skin and blood levels. Anywhere more than that can affect you long term. Sun protection DOES NOT take away the benefits received from the sun you are just additionally protected.
Recommendations for the face:

We come to the last and most important step to youthful and radiant skin this new year. I know at night we may be tired, but this is not to be missed. In our twenties, the skin’s exfoliation process decreases by 28%. This means our dead skin cells stick together for longer periods of time.
After about the age 28, our fibroblasts become less active and collagen production declines by about 1.0%-1.5% a year. Our collagen and elastin fibres become thinner and looser as we age, which means our skin is less elastic, which eventually causes wrinkling and sagging.
